Location

Baracoa is located on the same northern side of the island as Havana. And like Santiago de Cuba it represents the eastern side or Oriente. Across the sea you may with some chance see the lights of Haiti (at night from Maisi point)

Overall, Baracoa is a city almost surrounded by water which other sides are mountain. It became accessible by roads only twenty years ago and therefore keeps a very natural atmosphere. To reach Baracoa, you will need 4h by car and 5h by bus from Santiago city. You may also use the airline connecting both Santiago and Havana to Baracoa airport !
